Once your web has been developed, it must be
published to a "Web server".
This is a fast PC with a BIG disk, special software and high-speed connectivity
to the Internet.
Server space can be
rented on an monthly or annual basis.

You will also want your own "Domain Name". This is the address
(URL) that visitors enter into their browser to find your web site.
Look at the address above for "VG ent.". I don't have my own domain name, so I'm
sharing one with my cable company.
Not very easy to remember is it?
Much better to have an address like
www.yourname.com .
Domain names are generally
leased for 1, 3 or 5 year periods.

Now that you're web site is up and running, you'll want to keep the information current.
Updates keep visitors returning.
New products, prices, shows, schedules, speaking engagements, press releases,
etc. The list is only limited by your imagination.
Most web developers also offer maintenance contracts.

As your success grows - so does your web site. Soon you will need
on-line databases to provide dynamic content to your visitors.
I discuss these in the "DATABASE" section. |
