I'd like to share some tricks I've discovered so far. Hopefully they are of use to you.
The '95 Mustang seems to have a problem with the taillight lenses. They tend to cloud and get a milky sheen over them. No amount of washing/cleaning
seems to be able to remedy this. I've found TurtleWax Polishing Compound being able to fix this. Most other polishing or rubbing compounds that contain a mild abrasive
will do the trick as well. Apply it gently, in a circular motion, to the lenses with a soft damp cloth and you'll soon see the difference. I've also used it on the head lights
to remove some of the matting on those. The picture on the left shows the lenses before and the one on the right after the application. Even with the bad images I'm sure you can
see a difference. The lenses are brighter and shinier for one. If you do not want to invest in a rubbing compound, I suggest using toothpaste (paste, not gel) instead. As toothpaste also contains
a very mild polishing compound. It will do the same job, but requires more elbow grease. Just make sure you clean with water after you finish or you'll get nasty white stains.
It seems that the 1994 and 1995 Mustangs came 'wired to the max'.
I found my coupe was even wired for a convertible top. This opens several possibilities for easy addons. Such as foglights.
In my case, the foglamp switch was already present and fully wired. A torough inspection under the hood and front bumper even showed the presence of wiring and connectors which seem to be for the foglights.
As the pictures show. These connectors were hidden on the inside of the bumper above where the foglights are supposed to go. One has to reach in and up a ways to find them. The picture was taken from in front of the wheel.
I've been told the fact that my bumper does not have inserts where
the foglights are supposed to go is unusual. But as I bought her used, the previous owner may have taken them out. I guess I either check the local junkyards
or order the parts from Ford (Part# F4ZZ-15200-A and F4ZZ-15200-B). Please visit Walt's Mods for more information.
Thanks to JD Adams 'JD's Locally-Famous Ford Mustang Page' I found out there is an easy fix to prevent one from having to press the clutch pedal in order to start a manual transmission 94-98 Mustang. The fix only costs maybe $0.25 and takes 5 minutes.
In the picture to the left you can see a greyish/white connector just to the left of the bunch of multicolored wires. To disable the 'Push clutch pedal to start' safety feature, insert a 30Amp fuse (Like the ones used in the fusebox) in that connector. Make sure you bend the fuse prongs sideways so they make contact with the connector.
JD has a specific How-To on this mod so I will forgo that here. Just go to his page and scroll down a bit to find it. Please note, I do not have any credentials to offer automotive advice and am not advocating implementing this modification
to circumvent a safety feature. This is for information only and I am not responsible for any effects or consequences arising from reading the above or implementing this modification.
