Our vacation log home we call Shimer House has all the comforts of home amidst the rustic beauty and splendor of the Smoky Mountains. Just minutes away from Asheville, the area surrounding Bat Cave offers everything a nature lover could want. This is also an intimate setting for honeymooners.
Shimer House offers a view of gorgeous mountains, yet is close to famous Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure. The area also offers hiking trails, nature paths and waterfalls, picnic areas, boating, fishing, golf , horseback riding , whitewater rafting or Kayaking and more. The charming shops in Chimney Rock offer unique gifts and the restaurants provide quality fare for all tastes.
Just minutes away, Asheville offers quaint shops, fine arts and international cuisine. The spectacular Biltmore Estates, with its gardens and winery will take you back to a place of beauty and splendor. Asheville also has an airport and car rentals for visitors who prefer to travel by air.
So lay back and take a deep breath at Shimer House. Whether just relaxing in wooded surroundings, lounging in the hot tub, or just meandering along picturesque streams, we are confident that your vacation at Shimer House will be full of lasting memories.

There is a two day minimum ($135.00 per night). A $100.00 security deposit will hold you reservations. The security deposit will be returned (mailed) after your stay and our staff has checked the house for damage. $120.00 a night (for more than two nights) plus $65.00 cleaning fee. We will except a money order or bank check.
