Friendship BridgeTrail

ALWAYS USE SAFETY EQUIPMENT WHEN INLINE SKATING

The old Gandy Bridge (on the north side of the new bridge) has been made part of a potential skating route. The entire route may be viewed at the Friendship Trail web site. I do not recommend skating the entire trail as it leads along several public streets and many rough surfaces. Even the 2 mile plus bridge surface, made of cement slabs, has cracks similar to those found on sidewalks. It is also completely straight (yawn), no bends or curves what so ever. There is a 50 ft high hill (for boat passage) a couple hundred feet from the Tampa side.

The Friendship BridgeTrail is an interesting change of pace but hardly a great skating location. But if you're so inclined and coming from StPete the parking entrance is unmarked. It's the road on the left just past the two radio towers.

There are no public restrooms. There were still some portable restrooms in Tampa parking area on Aug 13, 2000.
The red circled P indicates the designated parking areas on each end of the bridge.
The bridgetrail is indicated in red.
Note interstate highways are also in red but have a black boarder
