Events The event schedules are out for '04 - Sunriders, Gulf Coast Autocrossers, and CFR all have schedules posted on their websites. CFR has a new site at the Brooksville airport that is quite nice. Not as wide as GCAC's site but just as long and pretty grippy concrete to boot. I don't have all of my results handy at the moment so I'll just highlight the season so far. I ran the Feb. GCAC event as a warm up for the SCCA National Tour held in Ft. Myers the following weekend. These were my first two events on the new wider Hoosiers. It was definitely a learning experience. Although I finished 1st at the GCAC event and 4th in CSP at the Tour, I was no where near the limits of the car. It can carry tremendous speed through corners and will take a while to get confident with. Bill Harvey (also in a Datsun 2000) finished 3rd, about 3.5 seconds in front of me (1.7 seconds on each of the two days). Lots of ground to make up! The first SCCA CFR event was at Gainesville the following month. I had all sorts of problems there and at the next event but traced it down to a bad rear axle seal that had rendered the rear brakes useless. After fixing that issue, things started to get better. I've run the fastest street tire time several times with Sunriders including the last event (August) in which I was only 3/10th's off of FTD. Even on the street tires, I think I could have set the FTD if I'd had one more run. I've won all four of the GCAC events I've attended so far and am leading the CSP championship points race. I'm also leading CFR West's CSP points race but there hasn't been much competition. CFR's East and West Regions ran together at Sebring in June and I finished 3rd to Bill and Elliot Harvey there. This time out Bill beat me by only 6/10th's so there's been some improvement. Elliot was of course another second out in front with the overall FTD. So the season started off pretty slowly but seems to be heading in the right direction.
Updates! As a result of running out of space on the server, you may notice I've deleted some of the info that was previously on the site. I still have it archived so if you need to reference anything that's no longer here, just e-mail me. Update - 9/2/03 I have added pictures to the Gallery. I've added a page for Autocross pictures. The pics from the SEROC meet at Road Atlanta are still there too. Enjoy. For the off season, I'll be flaring the Roadsters rear fenders to accommodate 225/50 sticky tires. I'll put a page up with the outcome of that exercise once it's completed. Oh Yeah... there was this TR6 Project that I mentioned. It's here - not on the web site but at my place - and it's now looking like it'll be Ford SHO V6 powered. I'll let you know...
