Welcome to Nick's Niche !                                      Updated September 17, 2007

Nicholas P. Di Mona  aka Woodcarvernic

Wood has always been my passion. I have been a wood worker for over 55 years and a Commercial Illustrator for over 45 years. I owned a shop and taught ceramics for 10 years and always tried to incorporate some wood in my work. I do all my own painting on my realistic birds, animals or human figure carvings. I teach woodturning and wood carving in my studio in Beverly Hills Florida. I must confess to being ‘compulsive’.  All I want to do is work with wood, day in and day out.    (7 days a week  ).   Occasionally I am interrupted to eat or do something on my “Honey Do List”  I hate when that happens!!  When I am not in my own studio playing I am at one of my equally obsessed friends home playing with wood.  I belong to Nature Coast Carving Club and Hands On Wood Turning Club which totals around 200 members of Compulsive and Semi Compulsive friends, mentors and students. I do demonstrations at monthly meetings in both my clubs and occasionally do other club demonstrations. Wood Artisans are the friendliest people in the world. Always willing to share and show someone a new technique or help with an old technique.

I love being in the “blue”.  I wear dark blue for woodturning and Light blue for woodcarving. The purpose of this site is to share with others who may have the same compulsion and love of creating, "beautiful things to look at". I am willing to help anyone with wood related questions. If I do not know the answer I will try to find it or make a referral to someone else.

I will be posting  pictures of my finished work on this site.  Although my "Wood Sculptures" are for my own enjoyment,  I have given some away as gifts and have sold some other pieces
