From the Teacher’s Desk  

Our reading theme this month is Amazing Animals.  Children will have the opportunity to study the amazing lives of ants.  Then we’ll switch from the tiniest of creatures to a study of the past through dinosaurs and fossils in science.   In math we will continue practicing 2-digit addition with regrouping and advance to 2-digit subtraction with regrouping.  We’ll also work with measurement including standard (inch, foot, yard), as well as the metric system (centimeter and meter).  Our focus in writing is on paragraph writing. 

    Valentine's Party

We will hold our class Valentine’s Party on Thursday, February 14th.  Students who wish to send class Valentine’s should be sure to include every student on their list.  Please see the back of the newsletter for everyone’s names.  More information regarding the party and chaperoning will be sent home soon.

        Rocket Math

Please help your child spend five to ten minutes practicing their Rocket Math daily.  Just a little practice each night will make a big difference in how well a child will perform in math for years to come.
