Friday, January 10,  Admiral Richard E. Byrd was a guest at the swimming exhibition held at the Base pool. The Red, White, and Blue Swimming Team were the hosts and put on a great show for the Admiral and party.
Admiral Byrd was on his way to the Antarctic region to explore and make charts on the region and weather there. Admiral Byrd has made several trips to the polar region and has withstood great dangers to record the weather conditions there,  which are very helpful to the Navy Department.

The Red, White, and Blue troop put on a brilliant display of swimming and diving skill. This troop performed before Admiral Halsey   when he was in Panama and the Canal Zone some months back. Mr. Henry Grieser is in charge of the Troop and has in his 29 years of coaching this troop in the Canal Zone, produced quite a number of champions. The world famous Canal Swimmers came from his troop. Several champions performed in the exhibition Friday.

Admiral Byrd showed great interest in the exhibition and seemed to enjoy it greatly. The Base wished to extend their wishes that the South Pole expedition will be a success
