The 60th Anniversary Reunion was held on September 14 and 15, 2001. The class had its reunion even though many of the classmates from outside Nebraska could not make it due to the airline flight restrictions bought about by the bombings of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Here are some snapshots taken during the reunion.

The classmates and friends who were prevented from attending included: Berdeen Pilger Schindler and Ed; Margaret Mary Thalken Nevins and Jack; Phyllis Hayford Cox and Boyd McClara; Jane Rasdal Kuska, her son, daughter and grandson; Jack Manion and Laura; Kate Rieselman Ditto Dickey (wife of Kenny Ditto); Floyd Martin; Don McGinley and Nancy.

Classmates, spouses, and guests who attended all or part of the reunion were: Johnny Walker; Don and Joy Williams; Melvin and Jean Hollingsworth Jacobson; Jean Barnica Hatterman and Merle; Cathleen Mueller Thalken; Patricia Thalken McGreer and Wilber; Velma Fell Bailey; Mary Elizabeth Sibal Mitchell and Gene; Maxine Potter Hammond; Lorraine Bishop Welsh; Edithora DeFord Barnhill; Luella Harding Christensen; Rose Dale Turley Fuller and her sister Pauline Eggers; Dorothy Wright Madison. Jean Barnica Hatterman and Merle; and Velma Fell Bailey were unable to attend the Saturday night banquet at Bayside because of muddy roads in the Paxton area. (Our apologies if we left anyone out.)

Others heard from but unable to attend for various reasons included: Lynn Hope Reed Jackson; Gladys Ehlers Ball; Bernard Vasa; Dona Stansbery Finnegan; Harriett Gavenman Rosenbaum; Lorene Gaston Gardiner; Harold Hilton.

Jack and Lorraine Kaminski Gemmell and Don and Dorothy Reiselman Ervin joined the group for the Saturday night festivities.

We regret to report that Letty Lee Baker Metro passed away on August 25, 2001. Just two days before she died, she sent in her $30 reunion registration fee to be used for memorials and postage, knowing she could not attend. Letty Lee's fiance, Gene Snyder, wrote that Letty "was looking forward to moving into our new home (new to us) but missed it by three days."

Others who have passed away since the 1996 Reunion are: Roderick Ault; Eldon Geisert; Clarence Martens; Robert Sheldon; Don Thompson.

August, 2004: Rose Dale Turley Fuller died in May of 2004 while visiting her son in Tucson, Arizona. Johnny Walker died on June 1, 2004.

Pauline Hoke with her first husband, Cecil Gibson and their daughter, Cecilia. Cecil was attending Ogallala High School around 1939. He was killed by sniper fire in Europe during World War II. He is interred in Brittany, France.
