Design Details

The M-1040 Wasp class assault carrier is designed based upon the M-1040 ship design found in Set Number Seven, Orbital Assault & Landing Craft copyright 1992 by The ADJUTANT.

The Wasp is designed to deliver a full Imperial Infantry regiment to the battlefield. It can carry six OSLGPs to land the troops as well as six fighters, such as the M-1034 Mosquito. There is enough room for 90 APCs or grav-tanks, 36 being stored in the OSLGPs and the rest in the cargo bay. The onboard facilities are designed for a brigade of four 600-man battalions. The quarters for each battalion has a sickbay, and both enlisted and officer’s galleys, lounges and gym facilities. There is an additional cargo hold with 25-16dton bays for additional cargo.

The ship’s crew has separate quarters, galleys and gym facilities.

Onboard machine and electronic shops provide maintenance facilities for the vehicles, fighters and landing craft.

The Wasp uses extensive ECM to prevent detection before the assault starts. While most of the ship’s armament is defensive there are four missile launchers and 12 dual pulse laser batteries to provide fire support to the landing forces.
