Design Notes:
The QE VI was designed and built to provide regular passenger service between Ariis (Ariis/Verge 24/39) and Joslins (Taiwan/Verge 30/30), at the terminus of the main Imperial Express boat route. There is a layover at Vienna (Nass/Verge 27/35). An orbital spaceport, called Harper Station, has been built to refuel the liners traveling across the Rift between Ariis and normal Imperial space in Verge sector in the Vienna system. There are 36 QE VI’s in service supporting daily passenger traffic between Ariis and Joslins, where passengers can pickup normal passenger service within Imperial space. The Imperium is considering purchasing vessels of the QE VI class to provide high-speed passenger service between major Imperial worlds. Private individuals, primarily nobles, are major purchasers of these vessels, as well.
The QE VI has a jump range of 6 parsecs to allow passengers to travel between Joslins and Ariis in just two weeks. Separate passenger lounges are provided for the High and Middle passengers, each of which is complete with dining facilities, a gym and a casino. The High passenger lounge features a full galley and chef. High passengers each have a private safe in their staterooms for protection of valuables, as does the captain. The crew has their own galley and living space separate from the passenger areas.
The QE VI has two 6-ton cargo holds for the high passenger’s luggage, a 5-ton hold for the middle passenger’s luggage, a 5-ton hold for mail and three 5-ton holds for general cargo. Each hold has a fully automated cargo handler.
A ship’s boat is carried to transport passengers or cargo to the planetary surface, if necessary. In the case of an emergency, the ship’s boat and 8 lifeboats can be used to evacuate the passengers and crew. A backup fusion reactor with the capacity to run all of the ships systems is provided. In an emergency it can be used to power 1-parsec jumps as well. Batteries are provided for one hour of power for the life support systems in an emergency where both reactors are unavailable.
