Admiral Jamie Wulfe, Wulfe class Commerce Raider

The INS Admiral Jamie Wulfe is largest military vessel ever built by Svenson's Small Craft, LIC. It was built at our Rhylanor shipyard. The Wulfe class uses the latest technologies to maximize her ability to serve as a small commerce raider.

The Admiral Jamie Wulfe meets the all of the minimum requirements set forth in the Imperial Navy Fleet Tactics College's RFP for a new commerce raider. The specs for the Wulfe class include the following features: 1,000 dtons. Technology Level 15. The ability to jump 4 parsecs. The ability to accelerate at 6Gs. Sufficient food storage for a voyage of 26 week duration without re-supply. Fuel scoops and fuel purification plant to allow frontier refueling. Inclusion of a 20 dton ships boat to carry a boarding party and cargo. Three 16 dton cargo holds each with a large hatch and automated cargo handling. Cells for 8 prisoners. A section of 12 ships troops to serve as a boarding party and prize crew. A machine shop to make onboard repairs. She is sufficiently armed to take on any merchant ship or small warship. She has extensive EMS with stealth, military black paint, advanced drive masking, and neutrino masking, plus active, passive, and radio jammers.

The greatest strength of the design is that four of these can be put in the field for every vessel of the competing AuricTech design. This means you can have much broader coverage. If it is necessary to provide stronger units they can operate in packs, with any where from two to a dozen ships in a "Wulfe pack". Allowing the force to be scalable to the task at hand. This gives the Wulfe class a great advantage over other designs. The Haven class Pack Tender is available as a support ship for "Wulfe packs" operating deep in enemy space.

The greatest weakness of the Wulfe class is the relatively short range sensor suite compared to the AuricTech design. This is not considered a major problem since four of these vessels deployed in the same area could provide greater sensor coverage.

Offensive armaments include three twin 750 Mj heavy laser turrets, each with a 2mkm LIDAR to track targets, and three automatic missile launchers in turret mounts, each with a 500kkm LIDAR to track targets. The laser turret's provide sufficient power to punch through the armor of most small warships and the missiles are effective against most ships.

Defensive armaments include three automated dual 25 Mj VRF PD laser turrets with a flight computer and MFD to control it and a 50kkm LIDAR to track incoming missiles, plus three sandcaster turrets for laser defense, a 150 Mj meson screen and a nuclear damper turret. The PD lasers are effective against incoming missiles and also very effective against lightly armored troops, vehicles or spacecraft that are in close proximity to the ship, such as on a planet's surface. The sandcaster turrets are effective against enemy laser weapons. The meson screen provides protection to the ship from meson weapons. While, the nuclear damper turret protects against the possible use of nuclear weapons against it.

The Wulfe class provides many amenities for the crew, including private staterooms for the ships officers, an office for the captain, a gym, a crew's lounge and an officer's lounge. The crew's galley is attached to the crew's lounge and the officer's galley is attached to the officer's lounge. The ship has storage capacity for 26 weeks of excellent rations. Since the enlisted personnel sleep in bunk rooms, due to limited space, the crew should be carefully screened for compatibility if they are to serve together for long duration voyages.

Should a Wulfe class vessel take a prize, there are three 16 dton cargo holds to store the most valuable or useful of the captured ship's cargo and the capacity to securely hold 10 prisoners. The food requirements of the prisoners should be offset by the prize crew manning the prize, however, if the ship's crew is at full compliment and there are prisoners on board the long term duration will be reduced accordingly.

There is a compliment of 12 on board for a boarding party and/or prize crew. The 12 extra ship's troops are all cross trained to act as members of a prize crew, if needed.

The ships boat, the SSC15SBU, has a pilot and gunner for a crew. It operates at 7 G empty (4.6 G with a full load of passenger and cargo). It is designed to carry 12 passengers in full battledress and 4 dtons of cargo. The seats can be removed to allow an additional 6 dtons of cargo to be carried in place of passengers. The gunner operates a light fusion cannon in a turret mounted in the ceiling of the craft. There is also a small, automated VRF PD laser mounted on the roof of the craft. The air framed hypersonic long round cylinder hull makes the SSC15SBU effective as a planetary assault boat, as well. Each SSC15SBU costs 10.068 MCr (the SSC15SBU is sold separately).

The intention is to name the vessels of the Wulfe class after famous commerce raiders of the past, such as Admiral Jamie Wulfe for her exploits during the Fifth Frontier War. The

Wulfe class vessels are also built in our Karelia Industries shipyards on Ariis (Ariis/Verge). They are known to be operated by the Imperial Navy in the Spinward Marches sector and the Ariisite Colonial Fleet in Verge sector. Ships of the Wulfe class are also known to be owned by several private groups, with valid Letters of Marque, operating within the Reavers Deep and Spinward Marches sectors.
