Design Notes:
The AR15-2 air raft was designed to offer high performance and capacity while minimizing the cost of the craft (less than 170 KCr when purchased in volume). It is designed to carry an optional pilot (the craft can be operated under remote control) and up to 3 passengers, in addition to 4.62 kl of cargo. The pilot is provided with an open crewstation. The passenger's seats are adequate. The hatch seals allowing use on vacuum worlds; however, care must be taken to open the hatch in a pressurized environment such as a hanger or residential garage.
Contra-grav lifters are used on the AR15-2 for propulsion rather than thrusters to reduce cost. The performance is considered good for customers simply looking for surface transportation. With 2 G acceleration (over 500 kph) when fully loaded the AR15-2 launch can operate effectively on high G worlds. When not carrying cargo, the AR15-2 can accelerate at over 5 G's, reaching speeds in excess of 1,000 kph. A fusion reactor provides the AR15-2 with power for a full year between refueling.
The AR15-2 is a very common air raft, especially popular among independent operators of small starships due to its competitive pricing. Tens of thousands of examples of this air raft have been produced over the years. These air rafts are constructed at the Svenson's Small Craft LIC shipyards located on most hi-population TL-15 worlds.
