Design Notes
The Bounty is designed for planetary research. Many features are provided to enhance the efforts of the research staff. The features include a dedicated science computer, eight science labs, a conference room, a powerful and extensive array of sensors, an electronics shop, a machine ship, a 40 ton ships boat, a sickbay, a lounge, a gym and a full galley. The Bounty was originally designed for use by the Imperial Scout Service. Hundreds are currently in service. Many Bountys have been sold to government and private researcher institutions, as well.

Since most research operations are long term, the Bounty is specifically designed to be transported to the system where it is to operate using our line of Jump Tugs. This frees up much of the boats volume for labs and sensors while it greatly reduces the cost of the boat by not requiring jump drives. Most non-military institutions hire private Jump Tug operators to deploy and retrieve the boat to/from the system to be studied. Merchant ships are often hired to deliver crew and supplies to the boat as needed, if they are in remote solar systems.

The Bounty comes with an extensive and powerful array of sensors. These include a Passive EMS array with a 5mkm range, an Active EMS array with a 500kkm range, a Passive Scanner array with a 5mkm range, a Passive Tracker array with a 5mkm range, four LIDARs with 50kkm range, and a Densiometer with a 5km range. All are high precision scientific instruments.

There are eight full science labs on board. Each can be custom equipped and re-configured as required for the mission at hand. There is an additional powerful computer system dedicated to the ship's science work. A full featured conference room allows the research team to meet and share information in regards to their research. An electronics shop and a machine shop are included to allow maintenance and/or enhancements to be made to the ships equipment. There are provisions for two air rafts and a 40 ton ships boat which are available for exploration of the planetary surface. This allows simultaneous access to multiple sites on the planet being explored.

A suite of jammers is provided to mask the presence of the Bounty in systems where the natives are unknown or known to be unfriendly. These include a radio jammer, passive sensor jammer, and a deceptive active sensor jammer.

To provide for the comfort of the crew and research personnel, each person has a private stateroom with a docking station for a hand computer. Two large staterooms are included for the captain and the owner/lead researcher. The small staterooms are built in pairs with a removable wall between them and a shared fresher. This allows couples to enjoy more comfortable living arrangements by sharing a larger room. A full galley is provided with food to last for 6 months without re-supply. A lounge is provided for the staff to relax in when they are not working. There is a gym for exercise, as well. A full sickbay is included. An optional medic/steward is included in the crew roster.

The Bounty's maneuver drives use thruster technology, which provide up to 3 G's of acceleration. Backup Contra-grav Lifters are also provided in case the main maneuver drives fail.

Due to the risk of piracy and/or hostile natives, the Bounty is equipped with several defensive systems. They include an automated Quad VRF PD Laser system programmed to destroy incoming missiles, Electrostatic armor, a nuclear damper turret and a sandcaster turret. These provide protection from the most common weapon systems. The ships boat pilot and medic/steward will operate the turrets when they are needed.

The Bounty is available with an enhanced sensor package. The statistics for this version are in italic and blue in the above tables. The volume is subtracted from the volume of the ship's storage space. Of course, if you build a stripped down version and upgrade to the enhanced sensors later you will have to pay the full purchase and installation cost for the enhanced sensor, plus the cost for removal of the old sensor system.
