Design Notes
Features include the capacity for 8 middle passengers, an
exercise room, a lounge with attached galley and a large stateroom for the owner/skipper.
A workstation is provided in the lounge area for the medic/steward. She is equipped with
fuel scoops and a fuel purification plant for gas giant refueling.
The Pechorin has two decks. The top deck has the bridge, staterooms, lounge, gym, galley and small hold. The bridge and lounge are toward the bow. The owners stateroom and gym are next, followed by the passengers staterooms. Then the pilot's stateroom and the crew bunk room. And, finally, the small cargo hold. The turret access is by the crew's bunk room. The life boats are accessed on either side in the middle of the passenger stateroom area. The lower deck includes the three large holds and the air raft hanger. Engineering is in a large open area in the stern of the ship (no top deck) with access to the jump drives, thrusters, contra-grav lifters and power plant. Fuel is stored all about the ship inside the hull.
The Pechorin has three large 20 ton cargo holds and a small 10 ton cargo hold. The small hold is used for mail, passengers personal cargo and incidental cargo lots. The large holds are all able to be sealed and used to carry extra fuel. Pumps and pipes are included to move the fuel from the holds to the normal fuel tanks and from the fuel tanks to the holds. This gives the Pechorin the ability to use some of her cargo space for extra fuel to increase the jump range in less heavily traveled areas of space.
For an additional 402 KCr, a turret can be installed containing a 20Mj VRF PD laser, 2xmissile canisters and a sandcaster with 10 cans (AV:40). Adjustments to the ships statistics for inclusion of the turret are within brackets. A bunk is provided for the gunner in the standard design even if the turret is not purchased. A missile magazine containing 6 missiles is normally included in addition to the turret, reducing the cargo capacity by 3 tons. The lost cargo space is from the small hold. Changes to the ships statistics when a turret is installed are shown in blue.
Another option, if the turret is not purchased, is to use the turret socket as a life raft jettison tube. This allows conversion of the second jettison tube into 3 tons of cargo space with a savings of 10 KCr, again this impacts the small cargo hold.
