Design Notes:
The SSC15XTB Express Boat Tender is designed to provide stationary refueling and support along X-boat routes within the 3rd Imperium. It has an X-boat repair hanger and berths for two additional X-boats.
The repair hanger has supporting machine and electronics shops. It is used as a third berth when the two docking rings are full. Two mission specialists are included in the crew to carry out maintenance of the X-boats.
The onboard fuel supply is used to refuel X-boats that are passing through. The ships boat is used to deliver unrefined fuel to the tender where it can be refined and stored, as well as to move personnel to and from the local planet. There is a pair of fiber-optic computers to backup the main computer systems. A lifeboat is available to evacuate the crew in a crisis.
The boat’s crew and any visiting X-boat crewmen share an onboard lounge and gym. The skipper has a large stateroom and an office.
The SSC15XTB is designed to be delivered to its station using jump tugs. The boat’s thrusters are used primarily to keep it in its proper orbit.
The SSC15XTB has extensive defensive armaments including a sandcaster turret, nuclear dampers, and an automated VRF PD laser turret for missile defense. A short-range heavy laser turret is intended to drive off small raiders.
