Design Notes:
The SSC15DSDSR Deep Space Sensor Drone is intended as a relatively inexpensive sensor drone to be used in areas where you are trying to cover a group of specific approach vectors, rather than provide global sensor coverage. Most of the cost of the drone is tied up in the PEMS sensor.
The combination of military black paint, drive masking, neutrino masking and stealth allow the drone to be very difficult to detect in deep space.
The HEPlaR drives are able to place the drone in virtually any orbit and maintain that orbit for extended periods. When the HEPlaR drives are not in use the reactor can operate at 0.1 MW extending the operational life of the drone to as much as 70 years without refueling.
Backup up computer, communicator and power plant are provided to extend the life of the craft without maintenance visits and allow continued operations even if key components fail. A cramped workstation is provided for a robot to pilot and repair the craft as needed.
