Design Notes:
The ACNS Sodankyla is a typical light cruiser, serving in the Ariisite Colonial Navy. It is built by Karelia Industries a subsidiary of Svenson's Small Craft LIC on Ariis (Ariis/Verge). There are twelve ships of the Sodankyla class currently in ACN service.
The Sodankyla class ships are designed for operations within the Great Rift where the ability to jump long distances is vital. The primary weapon is the Spinal Mounted Particle Accelerator. Secondary armament includes four Laser Bays and 15 missile bays with a capacity to launch 75 missiles in a salvo. Tertiary armament consists of 25 Laser Turrets. Missile defense is provided by 30 automated quad VRF PD laser turrets. Other defenses range from sandcaster turrets, nuclear damper screen, electro-static armor, and a meson screen. The ECM suite includes a variety of active and passive sensor jammers plus stealth, drive and neutrino masking.
The Sodankyla’s crew includes a compliment of 60 marines.
There are normally two 50 dton launches, one modular cutter and four 20 dton ships boats. This can vary depending on the role the ship is carrying out. The cargo hold is designed to carry up to six different modules for the modular cutter. These modules could include ground support modules such as artillery or battle tanks.
There is a spacious hanger where loading and repairs can be made on the small craft with attached shops. Other shops are present for carrying out internal repairs, should there be a system failure or battle damage.
The crew is divided into six sections. Each section has it's own bunkrooms, a gym, a lounge, galley and armory. Officer’s country is similarly divided into three sections, each with their staterooms, a gym, a lounge, a full galley and an armory. The captain has a large office in addition to her private gym and oversized stateroom. There is a sickbay, which is staffed 7x24.
