Submitting Music to ElectricBlues Radio

Thanks For Your Interest!
ElectricBlues Radio strives to feature quality, guitar oriented contemporary blues by Major Label, Independent, and International blues artists. Promotional material received for netcasting consideration is very much appreciated, and all CDs submitted will be given a good listen and honest evaluation. However, only music which fits the strict format and quality standards of ElectricBlues Radio will be added to the line up. Some background on EB Radio's procedures and format is provided below to help you determine if you feel it would be worthwhile to submit your music.

The Program
ElectricBlues Radio is a 24/7, random-play blues radio station hosted at Live365.com, a remote service which is fully licensed for netcasting performances. Playlists are typically 20 to 25 hours in length, reshuffled after each run, and updated with a completely new batch of songs on a monthly basis. There's a HiBand channel (EB Radio 56) for cable modem and DSL listeners, and a LoBand channel (EB Radio 16) for modem users. EB Radio has been netcasting the blues since January of 2000, and has consistently maintained a position among the Top 5 blues stations at Live365.com. Most days over 2,000 listeners tune in and spend an average of 75-85 minutes listening in on the HiBand Channel alone.

Preferred Styles
EB Radio's program format focuses primarily on guitar-driven blues (Luther Allison, Buddy Guy, Smokey Wilson, John Primer, Tab Benoit), blues-rock (SRV, Jimmy Thackery, Walter Trout, Gary Moore, Melvin Taylor, Bugs Henderson, Johnny Winter, Robben Ford, Debbie Davies) and a few classic performers (Albert King, B.B. King, Albert Collins). While the considerable range of blues styles is appreciated, Acoustic, Country, Delta, Soul, Zydeco, R&B, jazz, and Vocal oriented blues are not within EB Radio's limited format. And while EBR's focus is on guitar oriented blues, there is an upper limit as well, where the music can be too heavy, the guitar playing too rock oriented. The best thing to do is listen to the station a few times to get a good idea of the format. Also, visit the EB Picks section at ElectricBlues.com to see some of the artists currently featured on EBR.

The simple fact is, EB Radio's program format is very narrow and very strict. When CDs are declined for netcasting, it's most often because they are outside EB Radio's focus.

Please Note:
EB Radio's mission is promoting the blues through the netcasing of songs from noteworthy, guitar oriented blues CDs. As a general rule, only songs from CDs which overall fit the program format and feature a majority of quality, guitar-driven blues will be included in netcasting rotation.

Audio samples are often helpful in determining if the suggested music will fit EB Radio's strict format. If audio samples are available, I will be happy to preview them before you go through the effort and expense of sending promotional material. If available online, I will visit the site where they are available. Failing that, 3-4 samples can be sent to me via email. Keep each email below 10 meg in size or my mail server may refuse it.

CD Submissions
All CDs submitted are evalutated for quality, consistency, originality, emotional substance, and format compatibility.

Upon confirmation that the material is of appropriate quality and format, they are added to the Artist/CD Index at ElectricBlues.com. This listing includes a link to the artist's website or label promotion page if one is available. Select songs will be added to EB Radio's song library, and the artist will be notified.

EB Radio is hosted by a fully licensed service and all licensed songs (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, etc) are elligable for netcasting. If you are an Independent song writer not affiliated with any licensing agency, then I will need your expressed permission to netcast your original music (but not cover songs you record).

If you'd like to offer an extra CD or two for distribution in ElectricBlues.com's monthly CD Giveaway, this would certainly be appreciated. The Giveaway program has the same format requirements as ElectricBlues Radio, so you may wish to confirm the likelyhood your promos will be offered to visitors before sending extras.

Promo/complementary CDs may be sent to:

EB Radio Station IDs
ElectricBlues Radio is always in need of Station ID spots from participating artists, and I greatly appreciate receiving from those who have the time, resources and inclination to make one. Click Here for more info on this, and let me know if you'd like to create a spot for EB Radio.

CD Reviews
While I have reviewed many CDs in the past, in recent times I have become more focused on netcasting, which has left me little time for writing reviews. At the same time, highly regarded BluesRockers reviews many of the same CDs that I would recommend as noteworthy. So for the foreseeable future I will continue to accept material for netcasting consideration, but defer all requests for online review consideration to BluesRockers.

Independent Distribution Through CD Baby
Looking for a distribution outlet for your independently produced CD? Check out CD Baby, a distributor exclusively for Independent artists, possibly the largest on the Internet. They accept CDs from all countries, and deliver world wide as well. I have heard only good words from artists who have used CD Baby.
