Don Sulesky

I have been a member of the  Pedal Steel Guitar Association out of Floral Park , NY for over 25 years and have had several of my Steel Guitar Tabs of complete songs and licks published in the PSGA Newsletter. In 2003 I received the prestigious "2003 Appreciation Award" from the Pedal Steel Guitar Association for my many years of contributions to furthering the Pedal Steel Guitar.

I’m presently  playing Guitar, Dobro, Pedal Steel, Bass and Mandolin and vocals in the “Country Travelers Band” in which we cover Traditional Country, Bluegrass, Canadian and Cajun Music.

You can also find me playing Pedal Steel, Lead Guitar, Dobro or Mandolin on Saturday afternoons at the ”Cowboy Junction Opry” in Lecanto, FL when I’m not scheduled to play with the band. On occasion, I sit in with the local Jazz Society Bands here and play Pedal Steel or bass with them.  I’ve also played some with a local Hawaiian Band.

My main influences in steel are Lloyd Green, Buddy Emmons, Rusty Young, Ralph Mooney, Herb Remington, Paul Franklin, Joe Wright, Herby Wallace and of course, Jeff Newman and his many seminars which I attended in the 90's.

I’m also a BMI Songwriter and have written over 350 songs since my first song back in 1958 and have recorded several  CD’s to date which are available from me. My three CD's "Bummin' Around" ,"Takin' Life Easy" and "Shenandoah" are presently featured on Mike Gross'  Swingin' West Radio Show out of Fairfield Conn. www.swinginwest.com

In July of 2002  Jack Stoner, Blake Hawkins and I formed “The Florida Steel Guitar Club” which was designed mainly for the meeting and playing of the Pedal Steel Guitar and enthusiasts of the Steel Guitar in all its forms. We presently have monthly meetings & jams, on the second Wednesday of each month.

Information of time and place can be found on the FSGC web page. http://www.floridasteelguitarclub.com/
