Greeting Cards

Have you ever wondered what those folks are like who make up greeting cards for sale? Especially the funny ones (cards I mean). And can you imagine doing it all day long throughout the year? Well, judging by a recent NPR interview, Shoebox cards creators seem pretty normal people, but judge for yourself at Funny, But No where you can listen to the interview and enjoy a good chuckle over some rejected greeting card ideas. (NPR)

If you're shopping for Greeting Cards, do yourself a favor and visit Jacquie Lawson's site. They may be few in quantity (39 cards at 6/04), but they're very high on quality. She is an artist who produces elegant, classy, interactive e-mail cards (remember Chudleigh the black lab?) and you can customize and send as many as you like for a small annual fee. Try them out by sending several samples for free. (Dennis Vecsey)

There is a Greeting Card location at regards.com that is easy to use and that offers classical paintings as optional designs, as well as including the now famous Dancing Baby greeting card.  The most comprehensive site is American Greetings, which also owns Blue Mountain and eGreetings.  Here you'll also find a range of musical cards by your favorite artist.

Speaking of animations, some hilarious ones can be found, customized ready to be sent to your friends at Message Mates.  If you would like something a tad more sedate, you can also find customizable greeting cards at Pacific Products. You can select a jingle to accompany the card and it will be played when your friend reads it in his e-mail.

Holiday Lights will place virtual lights around the edges of your screen and play festive music in the background. It works for Christmas, St. Valentine's, St.Patrick's etc.

Send a Virtual Flower Bouquet to your family or friends, and have it announced to them by e-mail; this is pretty neat. You can also order real flowers, of course. (JoAnnS)
