Qujiang SWI
(Social Welfare Institute)

This is the gateway entrance to the
QuJiang Orphanage
You go through the gate, turn to the right and up the steps!!
They are on the Third floor with a motorcycle shop located below.
You must remove your street shoes before entering the  SWI.

The Motorcycle Shop

What we know about QuJiang SWI is that it is in the province of
Guangdong.  It's a little over 3 1/2 hours North of Guangzhou by
bus.  It is a mountainous village.  Map:
Map of Qujiang The Orphanage
presently has about 100 children with nine rotating nannies.  They
are taking in about 18 babies/children per month.  The babies
GREATESTneed right now is formula.  Many of the adopting
families, their relatives, and friends have already donated many
needed items.  See some Donations.  There are times in the summer when
they may only have access to water for 2 hours per day.  However, it was
Shae's family (mom is Wendy) through LWB  (Love Without Boundaries)
that donated their first water tanks & new lead-free cribs. This allowed them access
to water more often. It was not until July last year (2004) that we were able to
provide A/C units for the children.  QuJiang is Hotter than Florida
during the Summer months!  Just Imagine about 100 children in a
Daycare with no A/C in Florida.  Donations are very easy to make
directly to the Qujiang SWI fund and the dollar goes far when you donate
through LWB.  LWB will  purchase the needed items in China,
then have college students pray over them and then it gets delivered.  A full
case of formula is about $150.   Please check out LWB and if you you can
Donate Please specify what it is for, and name QuJiang SWI
as the recipient.  You can Donate in the honor of any baby,
just mention the baby's Chinese name and the Orphanage.
Donations made so far are cribs, water tanks, clothing, formula,
air conditioning units, crib mobiles, bouncers, washer & dryer,
toys, play room and most recently a generator.  As long as their are waiting
babies in China their are great needs to be met.

Meet the Orphanage Directors

Head Director Liu  &  Director Wang

What we know of Director Liu & Wang is very positive.  They are
very knowledgeable about all the babies.  They  know the babies all by name.
They  genuinely care for all the children  and insist on feeding the babies
the most expensive formula in China, which is S-26.  It is comparable to our
Enfamil.  They are also very involved with helping to care for the children.
Maintaining a very clean facility is also a priority.
It has been said that they are very honest and compassionate men.
In my recent visit we noticed Director Wang is more of the
Public Relations Director and is the one whom brings the babies
into Guangzhou with a few nannies.  They seem to travel by railway
when bringing babies into Guangzhou.   Director Wang travels
around by motorcycle, it appears this is probably much more cost
effective than vehicle.  Director Liu seems much more shy and
is at the orphanage most of the time.  They were very hospitable
and grateful for our donations to help better the orphanage.

QuJiang is in Western Guangdong.  It is one of 6 counties in Shaoguan.
