Cheryl was born in Texas. She joined the Marine Corps in 1983 and I was fortunate enough to get stationed at the same base at the same time she was. I don't know why she puts up with me, but since we first met I've been the luckiest guy in the world.

How can one guy be so lucky!!

Cheryl stood by me while I was building my plane, without her encouragement and some hands on help my VariEze would have never flown. Is she brave?!?!! She is a Marine, but if that isn't enough she scuba dives, kayaks, rode her bike 3023 miles, plus another 700 miles,( not to mention the thousands of miles preparing for those rides ) flew with me in my home built air plane, (would you fly in a homebuilt airplane 9,000 ft up and close to 200 mph?? Cheryl's latest adventure was sky diving, yea I think she is one of a kind and I couldn't be more proud of anyone on my life. Yea, I think she is one of a kind!!!!!!!!

5 Points of Life Ride, 2000,Could you ride a bike from Bar Harbor, Maine to Key West, Florida - thirteen states, plus the District of Columbia - 3023 miles in 49 days? She did !

South Africa,  2001, Cheryl was one of 7 Americans chosen to ride in South Africa for the SANBS (South African National Blood Services). What an honor to be one of the 1st to participate in this event The South Africans treated all the members of the team like they were heroes. The ride was only :-)!!!!!!!!! about 700 miles in 9 days, but I couldn't have been more proud of Cheryl if it had been 7,000 miles. I still want to thank her South African teammates, Dries, Andre´, Dennis and Piet for taking her under their wing and treating us as family, we will never forget their hospitality. A special thanks from me to Dr. Crooks, Cyrel and Diane De Coning and family for making me feel like a member of their family while Cheryl was out ridding her legs off :-)!!! Baie Dankie!!  Thank You!! "Bloed is die band wat ons saambind."  " Blood is the bound that joins us together."
