- Inspired by the Hillcrest Village Board of Directors' commitment to upholding our Community's long-held standards of excellence, the Concerned Property Owners of Meadowcrest remain firmly opposed to the placement of a metal storage shed in MacVicar Park.
- We feel the MCA acted in unnecessary haste in calling a special "emergency" meeting to secure a vote for the major purchase of a metal storage shed/building in MacVicar Park, and
- Important details regarding the prefabricated building were withheld from the members of both the MCA and other Villages (including lot owners with property adjacent to the park and proposed site) while under review. Specifically, inadequate time was allowed for MCA representatives to present this proposal properly to their respective Boards and/or membership prior to making the final decision.
- We request that:
- The present Architectural Control Board be reinstated in compliance with the MCA Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, in order to maintain proper checks & balances within the Community, thus acting as an aid to avoid unnecessary and costly mistakes in the future, and
- A detailed study be conducted by said Committee as to the management of the entire storage shed issue. Serious consideration should be given to timely removal of the storage building from MacVicar Park while seeking alternative storage options in line with the governing documents. An itemized list of additional points pertinent to this issue was previously presented to the MCA Board of Directors at the "emergency" meeting called when the Hillcrest Representative could not be present due to employment obligations. This information included a suggested remedy to the storage problem and can be viewed online by clicking the link to ADDITIONAL POINTS below.
- No items whatsoever be stored in the building -- and if already placed, items should be removed until the review is completed, in order to facilitate removal of the metal building from the premises, if not return to the manufacturer. Door-to-door and telephone solicitation have been discouraged from the very beginning of this community poll, which makes the number of signatures even more significant. The majority of support has resulted from candid exchanges amongst friends and neighbors, and before its reinstatement, we had no doubt that there were/are a great many more Association members who agree/agreed that an Architectural Control Board was/is needed to uphold our Community's standard of excellence for the future. To that end, this Petition has definitely been a great motivator!
No response was received regarding the request to have the Petition placed on the agenda at the Annual (official membership, not residential info) Meeting in January. Signatures are still being accepted and responses will be compiled for consideration of the new Board, if not all bona fide Members of the Meadowcrest Community Association, as soon as possible. Thanks to all who have expressed sincere concerns and viewpoints on this issue.
