On October 17, 2003 I spent the day with John, AE4GB and Greg KC8AOK at a Scouting event held at Safety Town in Pasco County.  The event took place coincidentially with JOTA, the Boy Scout Jamboree on the Air.  There was a surprising amount of interest in Amateur Radio from both the Scouts and their leaders.  Here are a few of the pictures I took of the event.

A Scout tries an HF QSO AE4GB's camper.  Note the new canopy, the old one was lost at CARS Field Day 2003. A Pasco County Sheriff's helicopter at Safety Town.

Pasco County FD put on fire safety demonstrations for the Scouts. KC8AOK's communications trailer. KC8AOK at the mic working HF via a MA5V vertical.

Another view of KC8AOK's trailer with the Safety Town court house in the background.  Note the ATV and HF antennas. Cub Scouts and their leader listen to other JOTA stations on 20 meters. A Cub Scout leader explains how radio works to her Cubs.

An attempt to take a picture of the AE4GB's ATV broadcast.  Crappy picture, except for the reflection of the photographer in the screen! Jeffrey (WD4USA) and friend check out the JOTA Amateur Radio station. A Cub Scout tries ATV, courtesy of AE4GB and KC8AOK.
