North Carolina

Beautiful western North Carolina .... God's country. I was fortunate to attend college at UNC-Asheville and had an opportunity to explore the mountains, go white water rafting, hiking and camping. Oh yeah, I also managed to get my degree too.

This is a view of one of the waterfalls along the Horsepasture River. This is a great place to go hiking and camping. There is a series of five waterfalls and this one is the second. The first one is called Bust Ass Falls. And believe me...it deserves the name. Take a slide down it and you too will learn why.

This is rainbow falls. If you look closely you can see me standing on a rock at the foot of the falls. This is a spectacular site.

  Lake Toxaway Falls

One vacation a group of us went rafting down the French Broad River. Not many rapids but we had fun just the same

My last year in North Carolina I lived with my best buddy in Hendersonville. We had a great house in Laurel Park and this is an example of the views around us.

This was taken from our front porch.

Another view of some great fall foilage.

This is at the very top of the neighborhood from a spot known as Jump-off Rock. Legend has it that a young Indian maiden committed suicide by jumping from this spot because of a brokern heart.

Every July on the last weekend of the month, the city of Asheville hosts its Belle Chere festival. The name means beautiful city. It is a great street festival with music, food, dance and arts and crafts.

This was taken a few years ago at Belle Chere. I am in the middle of my two friends Mary and Liz. We stopped into a restaurant for drinks and munchies.
