Sketchbook of Vintage House Plans
My father was a home designer and builder all my life. While going through his blue prints which had been
stored in my grandmother's attic for many years, I came upon these wonderful sketches of small home plans
from the early 1940s. These homes were designed for a country swept up in a war and trying to recover
from the depression. After WWII my father built many of these homes for young families buying their first
home, as well as retired people. I have some great ideas for utilizing these little home plans by keeping
the basic design of the home, and simply adding a small utility room and possibly a
two car garage or carport. If you are interested in seeing what could be developed from these wonderful
